Robert Greene –
I’ve recently had the pleasure of cooking with the Wild Caught Alaska Sockeye Salmon, and I must say, it was quite the delicious and savory journey. The product arrived well-packaged, with the freshness of the fish impressively preserved, as though it had been caught only hours before.
The quality of this Sockeye Salmon is unmistakable. True to its wild-caught label, the flesh was firm and the color a vibrant, beautiful red. The flavor was rich and robust, a testament to the clean, pristine waters of Alaska. It was a far cry from the standard store-bought variety, providing a more authentic and gourmet experience in my home kitchen.
I prepared the salmon in two ways – pan-seared with a simple seasoning of salt, pepper and lemon, and slow-roasted with a maple-soy glaze. In both cases, the flavor of the fish was the star. The pan-seared version was a testament to the salmon’s natural flavors while the maple-soy glaze complemented the richness of the fish without overpowering it.
However, I couldn’t give the full five stars for a couple of reasons. Firstly, while the packaging was excellent for maintaining freshness, it was a bit difficult to open, and it would be more convenient if it was resealable.
